Kerri Jones

Kerri Jones (she/her) joined JAMaROO Kids in January 2026 as a part-time San Francisco-based teacher, bringing with her a lifelong passion for music, theatre, creativity, and working with children.

From an early age, Kerri was immersed in music and the performing arts. She began playing flute in 4th grade and went on to spend 14 years performing in classical, symphonic, and marching bands. She also has nearly 30 years of vocal training and performance experience and studied stage production for three years in college. Kerri was never far from the stage growing up, with choir, plays, and musicals filling her schedule. When she wasn’t performing, she could often be found working behind the scenes. Her love of theatre eventually led her to sewing and costume design, where she learned from some of the best artists in the Bay Area and even received awards for her work.

Kerri has been working with children since she was 15, when she began volunteering in her church nursery on Sundays, a role she continued well into adulthood. After exploring a variety of careers, including working in restaurants and craft shops, Kerri eventually found her way to teaching music. Her passion for education was inspired in part by her brother and her grandmother, who worked for Oakland Unified School District for nearly four decades and instilled in her the importance and value of education. Today, Kerri loves bringing her creativity, musical background, and playful spirit into her teaching at JAMaROO Kids.

Music and creativity run deep in Kerri’s family. Her father is a musician and pastor who learned from his own father, a drummer who played with The Meters and continues to play music today. Growing up surrounded by music, performance, and creativity shaped Kerri’s love for the arts and continues to influence her work as an educator. Later in life, Kerri discovered yoga and found it to be an important part of her personal health and wellness journey. She has since embraced yoga wholeheartedly and continues to explore its many benefits.

When Kerri isn’t teaching, she can often be found cooking, enjoying picnics, camping, or taking a road trip to explore somewhere new. During the summer, she loves spending time at the Renaissance Faire in Gilroy, where she is one of the many cast members who brings the experience to life. Kerri is an avid adventurer who loves seeing new places and experiencing new things. You never know where her next adventure might take her!

Kerri is also a member of The Merrytarts at the Great Dickens Faire, where she gets to combine her love of performance, theatre, and creativity. While the show is a little too “spicy” for the little ones, it gives Kerri another opportunity to express her love of performing!

When Kerri was asked what she loves most about teaching at JAMaROO Kids, she responded with, “I love the creative ability to be silly and try new things while learning here. I get to let my imagination go into full bloom while teaching little ones how to do the same. This job has been a lovely reminder that you’re never really too old or young for play time. We should have a little more fun.” 

Fun Facts: Kerri comes from a BIG, close-knit family! She is number 10 of 43 cousins, and that’s just on one side of her family. Altogether, she has nearly 80 first and second cousins! She also loves sewing and costume design and has won awards for some of her creations.
