Emory Lewman

Emory Lewman joined JAMaROO Kids as a full-time San Francisco based teacher during the Summer of 2025 with 7 years of preschool teaching experience. Her formal education includes studying Early Childhood Education and Studio Art at Appalachian State University! While in school, she also completed her 240 hour yoga teacher training. After graduating, Emory has continued her studies at CCSF, where she currently takes Early Childhood Education and Cinema classes.

Prior to joining JAMaROO Kids, Emory worked as an art teacher, working across many mediums with children ages 2-10 years old. In 2023, Emory traveled to Italy to learn more about Reggio Emilia education, and attended teacher training at the Loris Malaguzzi Center, where she had the opportunity to visit many different schools. She considers this a transformational experience for her as a teacher.

Emory grew up in a musical family! Her parents were both music lovers, and her father was a radio DJ in Atlanta. This led to her love and curiosity for music and at the age of six, she started playing the flute. As a teenager, she played in her high school band and was a member of a flute ensemble.  You can find Emory still playing the flute in her classes with her students today, and performing in friends’ bands, or to accompany her live shadow puppet performances!

When she is not teaching, you can find Emory going to the movies! She loves to support indie theaters and enjoys making her own puppets with fiber arts and also designing her own sets. Emory shows her films and performs her puppetry all over the Bay Area. She also loves reading and trying out new yoga studios! 

When asked what she loves about working at JAMaROO Kids, she said, “I love being able to encourage children’s creative and playful sides every day. I’m filled with joy when I see a class full of kids who are happily dancing and clapping along to new songs. I am always surprised by a class full of kids’ ability to quickly take on a new song or dance and learn and move along! It’s really lovely to be able to use my creative ideas and intuitions in education everyday!”
