Bio - Mamie Pepper
Mamie grew up with a love of dance, taking ballet, tap and jazz from the age of five. She has competed in numerous dance competitions in Las Vegas and Florida with her dance troupe. Continuing her love of dance, Mamie danced in her high school’s team of song leaders, performing dance routines during sports matches and at spirit competitions.
A native of California, Mamie attended UC Santa Cruz and obtained her bachelors in Developmental Psychology with an emphasis on Early Childhood Development. After graduation, Mamie went on to follow her passion of educating young children. She was a preschool teacher for 15 years, employed at several schools in San Francisco and owned her own family childcare for four years. She has over 24 ECE units and holds a permit as a Site Supervisor for preschools.
After the birth of her son, Sam, Mamie took a break from teaching and spent the next five years as a stay-at-home mom. She was able to send her child to a cooperative nursery school run by parents and watch her son grow into a kind and intelligent young child. So much happens during the first five years of life! Mamie is so happy that she once again has the opportunity to be a part of young children’s lives. Supporting their learning and love of music, dance, art and yoga is a wonderful next step in her career.
Drawing upon her vast experience, Mamie is our Curriculum Development Director and organizes our monthly themes and music. She believes in exposing children to a wide variety of cultures through dance and music. In her spare time, she loves doing crafts, baking and spending time with her family.
