Laurie DeVito

Laurie began her teaching career in 2003 through Teach For America, a non-profit organization nationally recognized for recruiting top teachers to improve educational equity across the United States. Her two years of service with Teach For America was incredibly empowering and uplifting and she chose to continue working within her school district placement for an additional four years. She was placed in a Special Education setting in which she not only fostered change within the educational expectations of her students, but also empowered parents to become advocates for their children’s education. Prior to leaving the profession to become a full-time mother, she taught for three years in a self-contained Special Needs Preschool.

In 2009, she made the decision to become a stay at home parent and focus on her family.  Once her daughter was a bit older, she pursued another one of her passions and became a certified yoga instructor early in 2016. In addition to working for JAMaROO Kids, Laurie teaches adult yoga classes throughout the South Bay area.

When Laurie discovered JAMaROO Kids, she knew that it was the perfect job that combined all of her passions. With a college Minor in Dance Education, a teaching certification in Special Needs and now a yoga teaching certification, JAMaROO Kids allows Laurie to share what she loves with a large population of children.  The connections that she has made with her students make each day feel incredibly rewarding!
